"Water - a cause for conflict in the 21st century?"
From diagnosing the crisis to managing the problem
Academy conference for the next generation of scientists
Freiburg, 1st to 3rd June, 2007
The series of academy conferences for the next generation of scientist starts with "Water - a cause for conflict in the 21st century?" The objective of the initiative is to give young scientists the opportunity of organising a conference on their own. With these conferences, of which five are planned for the time being, the academy would like to consciously go beyond the usual academic promotion of young scientists.
The Heidelberg Academy of Sciences supports young researchers financially and provides them with its infrastructure. The selection of the topic, planning of the program and the choice of participants is left on the young scientists to decide. Groups of at least three researchers from different subject areas have been called upon to apply.
Interdisciplinary research and the promotion of the next generation of scientists are the main concerns of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Sciences of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg. With their conferences for young scientists they seek to address young researchers from the entire range of subjects offered at universities.
